Karnavati School of Dentistry (KSD) is proud to introduce the Junior Residency (JR) Program, a meticulously designed six-months course aimed at providing aspiring dental professionals with a holistic and intensive clinical experience. Program Overviews
The JR program is structured to encompass the entire spectrum of dentistry, ensuring participants gain a well-rounded understanding of various dental disciplines. With a primary focus on clinical exposure and practical skill development, the program integrates the latest advancements in dental science and technology. The course will give clinical exposure to participants in all dental specialities including:
- Endodontics – Precision and expertise in root canal treatments are crucial for successful patient outcomes. This section will focus on basic endodontic techniques, rotary instrumentation, obturation methods, and the latest developments in pulp therapy. Clinical demonstrations and hands-on practice will ensure participants gain confidence in handling simple to moderate endodontic
- Prosthodontics – A core focus on fixed and removable prosthodontics will help participants refine their skills in removable and fixed prosthesis including crown and bridge fabrication. The module will also cover occlusion principles and complete dentures.
- Oral Medicine and Radiology (OMR) – Accurate diagnosis is the foundation of effective treatment planning. This module will train participants in comprehensive patient evaluation, differential diagnosis of oral conditions, and interdisciplinary treatment planning to ensure holistic patient care. Participants will develop proficiency in diagnosing oral diseases through advanced imaging techniques such as CBCT, digital radiography, and salivary diagnostics.
- Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OS) – A vital aspect of dentistry, this module will focus on basic and advanced surgical procedures, including exodontia and minor oral surgeries. Hands-on experience in suturing techniques, emergency management, and post-operative care will also be included.
- Pediatric Dentistry – Special focus will be given to the management of dental issues in children, including preventive dentistry, behavior management, pediatric restorative procedures, and an opportunity to learn interceptive orthodontics over the shoulder. Participants will also learn about nitrous oxide sedation and management of dental trauma in children.
- Periodontics – This module will cover periodontal examination, periodontal treatments including laser-assisted periodontal therapy, and maintenance therapy.
- Orthodontics – Participants will gain insights into orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning, and learning orthodontic treatments by assisting postgraduates and observing over the shoulder.
- Implant Dentistry – This one week module will give JR an opportunity to assist and observe implant surgeries and implant prosthesis.

Admission Process
Admission to the Junior Residency Program at Karnavati School of Dentistry is conducted through a structured and rigorous selection process to ensure that only the most dedicated candidates are enrolled. The selection process involves:
- Application Submission – Interested candidates must complete and submit the official application form along with the necessary supporting documents.
- Interview Round – Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a personal interview with a panel of senior faculty members. This interview will assess the candidate’s clinical knowledge, motivation, and commitment to pursuing advanced dental training.
- Final Selection – Based on the interview performance and academic credentials, selected candidates will receive an official admission offer.
